BECAUSE I COULD NOT STOP FOR DEATH
-Emily Dickinson

Because I could not stop for Death,
He kindly stopped for me;
The carriage held but just ourselves
And Immortality.

We slowly drove, he knew no haste,
And I had put away
My labour, and my leisure too,
For his civility.

We passed the school where children played,
Their lessons scarcely done;
We passed the fields of gazing grain,
We passed the setting sun.

We paused before a house that seemed
A swelling of the ground;
The roof was scarcely visible,
The cornice but a mound.

Since then 'tis centuries; but each
Feels shorter than the day
I first surmised the horses' heads
Were toward eternity.
For a few days now I have been thinking of this poem. A friend of mine, 27years old, committed suicide.As you can surmise from her age she was in the prime of her youth and very happy, or atleast she gave  that impression.

Even though we interacted only on facebook and that too once in a while, my mind is unable to get rid of the thoughts of her suicide. Why? I never emailed her even once, never spoke to her after I got married ( 10 years ago), only saw her picture perfect photos on facebook and messaged her once in a blue moon. Time is the best healer, they say and I am relying on this medication for helping me dislodge my thoughts of her. What is really eerie is that everytime I see her profile page on facebook, everything is just like what it was before she died. It is like going to a dead person's house and seeing the coffee still brewing on the stove top or something like that. It is disturbing. Really, God and his ways, strange at times. I don't know if what I did was right or wrong, but I removed her from my contact list on facebook, I could have kept her there but the sight of her profile page is unsettling. I am always trying to get to her profile page, God knows why! Atleast now I can rest in peace knowing that I will never get to see her profile page fully again. May her soul rest in peace.
